LAZY: L-A-Z-Y

The past few days have been awesome.

Saturday I made great tips at work.

Sunday, Associate surprised me by having my sisters and their husbands and my in-laws over for dinner and cake. It was really fun having them and playing games.  The Associate made it a really good birthday :) I'm a lucky duck.

Monday, I don't remember what we did in the morning. Oh we woke up at 11am and went to Costco to get Associate's Christmas gift--a BLU RAY player to go with our fancy LCD tv.  We came home and intended to go to the gym before Sister 2 and The Someday Psychologist came over to watch Inception with us. We were going to go see Christmas lights downtown with two friends of ours and Sister 1 and The Saver, but the weather ruined our plans.

Today was nice:) The Associate and I went to the gym for a couple hours, then we went to get my sewing machine and look for a better Blu Ray player, and to finish some Christmas shopping. It was fun spending the day with him.

Anyway, its been productive today too.  I reorganized my closet and cleared up space in the storage room by putting my dresser in my closet.

That's about it for now. My blogging has become boring, I apologize.  I don't even try to be entertaining these days. I will work on that...

Happy holidays and safe last minute shopping, all! ;)

Seg Still Exists...

I'm going to start blogging again. I need to keep a record of what's going on in life, so this is a good way I think.

Tomorrow is my last day working at the school for special needs adults.  I love the clients and will miss them a lot. I'll have to visit since I'll be so close.

I'm still working at the restaurant.  I really get along with everyone there and its a good job. I'm glad I have it.

In January I'm starting college for massage therapy. I'm excited and nervous and can't wait to have a profitable profession in 7 months.

Last night I won a bet that The Associate could not drink 1 L of water at one time, so I get a sewing machine. I love winning bets.

I've been watching what I eat lately... I'm determined to lose ten pounds.  I'm very slowly losing. I lose a pound or two, then it just hovers for a while. So in like a year maybe I will be there. Eating half a bad of Hershey's Peanut Butter Chips is probably not the best way to go about weight loss.

Associate is taking his last final for the semester.  I'm excited for the next few weeks of having a little more time with him.  We really haven't had much real time together since we got married it seems like. I know that's not true but it feels like it.

I am starting to feel like I have way more energy and I'm in a better mood than I have been in a while... placebo or actual effect?

I don't know. I just hope it keeps up. :)

I'm still breathing!

Life:

Married. Fun, different, adjusting, blessed, practice, communicating.

Working. 70+ hours, surprising, enjoyable, significant income, excited, goodbye student debt.

New place. Cute, ours, comfortable.

Sleepy!

What Goes Up, Must Come Down

Yesterday, I had another dress fitting.  It went really well, I got a cost estimate, which is below expected! Awesome.  One more fitting to go I think.

My car's sound system? Fully working. (it always was, I just didnt know how to use it) It's hood-ready. ;)  Sub-woofers are something I didn't imagine I'd have in a car ever. But I like them. :)

Got a LOT of wedding errands done, then stopped to see The Associate and borrow an air mattress for...

my friend from home who came to visit.  It was fun seeing her and catching up on everyone back home.  She's in town for a few days to see her fiance, who is in school here while she is in school back home.  I met him for the first time last night, and he's very cool.  When they get married and move out here, we'll have to do married people doubles. :)

After they left, I cleaned my room and somehow lost my glasses.  Panic.  Worked on my craftiness and got going on some wedding reception centerpieces.  They're going to be adorable, and I'm really excited!  Watched The Pianist with TwinRoomate while painting, stayed up and said happy birthday to her at midnight... went to sleep at 3 am.

Woke up at 10 am, fell asleep again, woke up at 11, fell asleep again, third times a charm--woke up for real at noon.  I know, I do so much...I don't know how I handle it all either. . .

Found out that the car registration is a lot more $$ than anticipated, but somehow it's going to work out, surprisingly.  Associate and I always make it.  I think God loves us or something because stuff just works out.

AND I found my glasses.

My dad is 50 today--HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!  I love you. :)

Work starts on Monday! Yay!

Gym time. Then dinner with my very cool cousins and uncle who are in town for BigLittleBrother's rugby game tomorrow.  Excited for another weekend with my Associate. ;)

A Great Day, In Other Words.

Yesterday morning my mother had mentioned in an email that something for a Boy Scout activity cost XXX hundred $.  I jokingly (sortof) responded, "what I WOULDNT do for $XXX."

This morning I was awakened by Southern Roommate coming in, "Hey Seg... Associate is here..."

9:30 A.M.  What kind of an unfair world is it in which a 20-something-year-old gets awakened at 9:30 AM unexpectedly, in order to DO TAXES?

;) I got over it when we concluded that Associate's tax return will be...notable. (Unlike mine...)  We submitted the taxes, and Associate's dad called to tell us: the total cost of repairs on the Old Car?  Well under what we were expecting.

And, my parents were so wonderful to offer to help me out with repairs until my job starts and I can take care of things.

BUT, after PerfectMother told me they could do that, she told me she'd found a large (for me) sum of money in an old mutual fund of mine.  The amount brought me over the $XXX I had jokingly mentioned being willing to do about anything for.

Let's reiterate:

This morning, 9:30 am, I woke up believing Associate and I would be spending X number of $ on the car in order for me to be able to start working on Monday.
I knew I had $X in student loans needing to be paid off.
I knew I had $X in bills to pay in the next week.
I knew I did not have enough $ to meet all of those obligations.

Midnight tonight, I have more than enough to repair the car and life is just altogether great.

I had my body fat measured. 17% body fat! 2% to go and I'll be at my new goal! I had no idea I had attained my initial goal, but I'm so excited!

We got a lot done tonight, and I found out good things.
We are both on the insurance for both cars now.
I got my parking permit.
My body fat % is 17%. I'm athletic!
My parents are helping me get my car fixed. :)
A random $XXX showed up in my bank account, an amount I believed I'd lost in the economy slump.
I drove my car--a stick--all by myself!
Associate's tax refund is going to be really good--and I helped him prepare it! Go me! ;)
God is aware of me and my needs.  That is for certain.  I needed what happened today.  And I think God knew that.

Seg=a happy girl.

Goodnight blogosphere. :)

Today in a word, thus far: unproductive.

My sentiments exactly: My favorite BMWK blog.

More on this later. I'm very opinionated about it, but I'm headed to Sib1's house to do a birthday box with Sib-inlaw1 & 2 and Sibs 1,2&3 for the Old Man, who is turning 50.  It's kindof cool having over half the sibs, including in-laws, living nearby.

Filed my taxes today... will probably do the Associate's tonight.  Reminded me of this:

Confession:

I like Katy Perry.
This is why.  Her voice is sub-par, I'll admit. But the actually song--the idea, all the elements put together--I love.

On to other news.  I started drawing again yesterday.  It's kindof cool now, not having work or school at the moment... or month... or 3... ahem... Anyway my first drawing is of a photo a friend took a few years back. I thought of it off and on at random times, finally decided to draw it.  It turned out okay.  The anatomy is slightly off, but it was a fun challenge.  Today I opted for something less depressing: the figure skater, Sasha Cohen, posing at the end (or beginning, who the hell can tell?) of a routine.*  The olympics were helpful in giving me something challenging, anatomically, to draw.  I wouldn't have thought of a figure skater if I hadn't watched the olympic figure skating with My Associate last night.. this, however, did not turn out as hoped.  This is the photo I decided to draw.  Her legs and butt were difficult to get right.  Just look at the picture...her butt looks weird! Still kindof working on it.

Anyway, the reason we were watching figure skating last night rather than at the gym, as we had hoped to be, is because we decided to go practice driving a stick.  My Associate has been teaching me... he's been really patient about it.  I'm definitely letting him teach our kids to drive... I don't think I'd be able to be as patient as he is.  Anyway, we were just pulling out of the parking lot we'd started in so I could try driving on the actual road... and the battery died again.  Ha.  Expletives followed... then Associate's brother was awesome and came to pick us up.  And...that's how we ended up watching figure skating.  Those girls are amazing, they do crazy stuff.

Anyway, Associate's dad, who has been completely awesome about the car thing, is charging it in his driveway today, and hopefully we'll get that car working this weekend, or soon anyway.

I need to come up with code names for My Associate's family. :) Associate's mom is easy: we'll call her Saint MIL (Mother In Law.)  The other names will come to me.

TODAY I had my first mock-dress fitting. It's like sheet fabric, she's using it to make a pattern for the actual dress. It looks good... changing the sleeves and the bottom of the dress, altering the neckline, and it had to be taken in a LOT... she gently said, "Fluctuation is fine for the mock-up, but once we have the actual dress... you need to maintain your weight." I explained that I thought I'd gained weight... so I don't know what that means... either she made it too big, or I am smaller.  I'm hoping the latter!  Either way, I'm excited about the dress. Just need to work on my bum so it looks really good in it. ;-) ...JAY-Z and Beyonce are calling me to go workout, so I better go do that.

Orange Julius and basketball game tonight with the Associate! :)

* I stand corrected. My new bloggy-friend, The IceSkater from So Midwestern says Sasha Cohen IS moving, not stopped. :)

The Week from Hell.

Last week was pretty bad.  I'm super smart apparently and VERY capable of buying cars... the battery died within two hours after we drove it home.  It has more dents than I realized, did NOT pass S&E testing, needs all new tires, new brakes, a new battery, a catalytic converter... can we just add a brain for me onto that list?  Anyway, our wonderful seller was so kind as to agree that he would take the car back and refund the money if it was more than the battery that needed replacing...then proceeded to screen our calls and ignore voicemail messages for 5 days.  So... hello, car.  Goodbye money used to buy the car, and other $ to repair it...

But it's really going to be fine, we'll get it repaired and it'll run for years.

I had a few other doozies last week, without going into too much detail though, let's say this: I have retired from matchmaking, at least temporarily.  It's good if you're going to do it...not to set up a non-high friend with a high friend.  That's never a good set-up.  Fortunately, my non-high friend is forgiving and even seemed to be amused.  Thank you, non-high friend, for not hating me. :)

Last week definitely was a week of failures...this week will be a lot better. Tonight we went to the gym, which I definitely needed.

Wedding plans are moving along quickly; we went and looked at rings tonight, so I'll be getting Ty's ring in the next few weeks. We're now 61 days away from getting married... really 60, since we have a morning wedding.  Weird! But exciting!

My mom sent a pkg for My Associate and me for Valentine's Day, but sent it to Sis's house, so I just got it on Saturday or Sunday... can't remember. Anyway... it had this marvelous lavendar-scented pillow scent sack. Mm. And teddy grahams. AND truffles! Truffles are wonderful...chocolate in chocolate? That's better than Better Than Sex Cake in my book.

Along those lines...new favorite food: vegetable flavored pasta. Spinach, cabbage, carrot... you name it, they've made it. Through in some of the oil Dad brought back from Parma, Italy, for me... and you have some amazing pasta. Sometimes I add spinach, pepper, and mozzarella cheese too. Delicious.

Oh, and new cause I'm supporting: bone marrow donation. Take ten minutes, go to http://www.marrow.org/, register. They'll mail a kit for you to send in swabs with tissue samples from your mouth, and you'll be in the database to save a life, or several lives.  The risk is pretty low, side effects tend to be back soreness for a few days, but besides that, nothing really. Not a bad price to pay for saving lives. Go check it out. You can always have your name taken off the list if you change your mind.

If you're planning on staying at a hotel in Dubai in the near future...consider this: Maybe don't.
For your viewing pleasure: swedish delight....
For your mouth's pleasure: poached pears in phyllo dough. My roommate just made these. Delicious.
And for your eyes' pleasure: George Clooney. I'll leave it at that.

The new things...

I've decided to revert to this blog again, mostly because it's the least embarrassing of my blogs.

So update on life:

My wedding dress is being made, as of yesterday, by a very talented seamstress in the area. :) I'm very excited about that!

Bigger excitement--I now have a car! It's a 98 Corolla, and it's got a pretty decent sound system! Hooray!

On Friday I have an interview with a nursing home... woot! I've always wanted a job at a nursing home.

So life is good. :)
