Christmas! Mmmm.

Well here we are. My first post on this blog.

Mini intro: I'm a university student at a top university on the west coast, studying nutritional science for my undergrad, and when I graduate in a couple years, I'll go to chiropractic school. In the meantime, I keep up a few blogs, read whenever possible, work at a cute little restaurant, and make a little book of happiness. My shrink suggested it. No, just kidding, he didn't. I came up with it on my own. And it works.

Today Christmas hit me like a ton of bricks. Which, I suppose wouldn't be such an enjoyable thing, actually. After eight months away from my hometown, I'm going back to visit! How exciting. Christmas at my house is amazing. It involves the most marvelous festivities. Pictures to show what I'm so excited about for the next few weeks:

Aren't those too cute? Found them over at Mary Eade's.
I make loads of sugar cookies every Christmas season, usually with my youngest brother. He's too cute. I called him today and told him I'd be home in x number of days, and he just squealed and I could hear him jumping up and down; he basically expressed what I was feeling, but I was too tired to express.

We almost always make some form of gingerbread houses; I like to think mine are a little more aesthetically pleasing than this one, but they probably aren't. When we were little, we usually just made graham cracker houses, since there were so many of us and it would have taken forever for my mom to make that much gingerbread. Besides, we didn't care--we had gobs of candy in front of us. When you're 6 and you have that, nothing else matters.

Every year, my family has several movies that we all watch together:
Actually, one of my sisters thinks Mr. Krueger's Christmas is creepy, so she doesn't watch it. But I still love it.

White Christmas has got to be my favorite movie of all time.

So darn festive! I want a red velvet dress with white fur like these! Too cute.

And anyway, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, and Rosemary Clooney... ALL in ONE movie? Unsurpassed.

Today I got out the only scented candles I have out here (thanks to Grandma, who was so kind to give them to me at Thanksgiving!). Holly Berry, and Apple Cinnamon! Yum! So good. I can smell them right now, and it's just scrumptious.

In Atlanta, it often isn't cold enough on Christmas day to merit turning on the fire, so when that happens, my dad arranges candles in the fireplace just beautifully, and lights them all before we go in and open presents.

We also arrange candles all over the house, and that's always been one of my favorite parts of Christmas.

I wish I had pictures, but this will have to do for now.

I love scarves, but living in Georgia, I just really never had a use for them. Where I am now though, I use them all the time, which is maybe the only good thing about how cold it is! Look at these little darlings I found today, from Urban Outfitter's (left), and Straw.Com (right):

And anyone who knows me know that I LOVE hats. I recently got this cutie in a very pleasant, Christmas-y shade of red, and can't stop wearing it! This is partly due to the fact that it saves me the trouble of doing anything to my hair at all. I can literally roll out of bed and put that hat on with my hair just as it is, and everyone says how adorable it looks! Should I be bothered that people like my bed-head more than my carefully styled hair?

K, that's it for now. I'm going to sleep! Goodnight internet!
